What Happens If You Don’t Clean Your Gutters?

Most people don’t think about their gutters until something goes wrong.

The problem is, by the time you notice it, the damage has usually already started.

When gutters get blocked, water has nowhere to go. Instead of flowing away from your house, it spills over the sides. That water ends up running down your walls, soaking into brickwork, and in some cases getting inside.

Over time, that can lead to damp patches, mould, and damage to plaster and paint. In worse cases, it can affect the structure of the building.

You might also notice your gutters starting to sag or pull away from the house. That is usually because they are full of wet leaves and debris, which adds weight they are not designed to hold.

A lot of this is avoidable. Keeping gutters clear is a simple job compared to dealing with water damage later on.

If you have not had them checked in a while, it is worth doing before it turns into a bigger problem.
